Would you like to get some fresh produce for your Acton home? If you are in Lancaster, stop into the BLVD Market. Offered by the city of Lancaster, this market operates in partnership with Raw Inspiration, which is a non-profit operator for California Certified Farmers Markets. Find 15-20 vendors year-round. The summer hours, which occur from April to October, are on Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. The market takes place on the Lancaster BLVD. In April, it spans from Fern to Ehrlich, May to June, it runs from Cedar to Date, July to September if runs from Fern to Ehrlich, and in October, it spans from Fern to Gadsden. If you are interested in becoming a vendor, reach out to Raw Inspiration. If you would like to come grab some items for your Acton home, come and enjoy shopping. There are several special events at the BLVD market. From June through September, enjoy the Summer Concert Series. This is held on the Bandstand Stage. Chek out the summer lineup here. Another event coming up is Black-Owned Business Market. This will take place on August 25th and is a celebration of Black-Owned Business Month. The extra special market will highlight the contributions of black business owners and entrepreneurs in Lancaster. Look for special signage for Black-Owned Businesses at this market and be sure to apply if you would like to participate. The City of Lancaster is dedicated to the safety of the community. Please be aware of these guidelines before visiting the market. First, please stay home if you are sick. Wear a mask and keep a minimum of a six-foot distance from vendors and other guests. Use hand sanitizer at the entrance, exit, and at vendor booths. There are no samples and eating is not allowed at the market. Please note that there is only one exit and one entrance to the market, and please follow the marks and arrows that display appropriate distance and paths of travel. The City of Palmdale is ready to help you celebrate by offering a free s’more giveaway bag while supplies last. This is for families with children ages 5-12. Come by Marie Kerr Park or Domenic Massari Park on August 10, 2022 to grab your giveaway bag between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. S’mores have an interesting history.The s’mores recipe first appeared in print in 1927 in a guide book called Tramping and Trailing with the Girls Scouts. This book gave tips for being in the wilderness and included recipes for foods that could be easily prepared in the woods and cooked over an open campfire. Troop leader Loretta Scoot Crew has been credited with the recipe. In the book, it states that when you toast marshmallows until they are melty and gooey and place them between graham crackers with a chocolate bar, it creates a treats that is so delicious, you will want ‘some more.’ While at the park, enjoy the outdoors for a few minutes before returning home to make your s’mores. Marie Kerr Park is located on the northeast corner of 30th Street West and Rancho Vista Boulevard. The park spans 57 acres and has ample parking. The park has many amenities. These include the Palmdale Amphitheater, a recreation center, softball complex, basketball courts, covered picnic pavilions, a skate park, two play grounds, soccer fields, tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, and much more. This is a terrific place to meet up with friends, bring the kids to play, or host an event. Having a party at the park is a great way to keep the mess out of your West Palmdale home. Domenic Massari Park is located at 39700 30th St. West. This park spans 40 acres. It also has many amenities, including soccer fields, little league fields, playground, field house, skate park, restrooms, picnic pavilions, a walking and jogging path, tennis courts, and more. On Friday, August 5th, bring the whole family to view Frozen II at dusk. Go on an adventure with Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven to learn about the past and find their places for the future. Enjoy the music, and make memories with your family watching a movie under the summer stars. The Palmdale Amphitheater is located at 2723 Rancho Vista Blvd. You can purchase tickets in advance, which is recommended. This ensures you have a spot and allows you to avoid the line. If you’d like to purchase tickets on the day of the movie, ticket booths open at 5 p.m. The gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at dusk. Free family activities are available from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. while supplies last. Keep in mind that the Palmdale Amphitheater does not accept cash. Remember to grab your Visa, Mastercard, or Discover before leaving your West Lancaster home. Kids 12 and under are admitted for free, however all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Grab blankets and chairs from your Lancaster real estate so you will be comfortable. Feel free to bring food and non-alcoholic beverages to Family Movie Nights. In addition, if you’d like to take the night off from preparing food, vendors will be on site. Please do not bring pets or alcohol. All bags and coolers will be inspected at the gate. The movies previously shown this summer include Trolls and Encanto. The final installment of Family Movie Nights will take place on Friday, August 12. On this night, come to see Luca. Join Luca and his friend Alberto, who are sea monsters disguised as humans, as they visit a small town on the Italian Riviera. The story is full of adventure and a powerful message of acceptance. Do you enjoy bedtime stories at your Acton real estate? If you do, consider coming to experience “Bedtime Stories (As Told By Our Dad) (Who Messed Them Up). This show will take place on Friday, July 29 and Saturday, July 30 at 7 p.m. You can catch the show at the Palmdale Playhouse, which is located at 38334 10th St. East in Palmdale. The cost for tickets are $10 for general admission, or $7 for students, seniors, military, and those 12 and under. You can also get a family four pack for $25. As he gets going with the stories, he becomes fuzzy on the details and becomes creative. For instance, a prince who snores turns up in “The Princess and the Pea,” “Rumplestiltskin” starts turning the gold into straw, and “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” instead cries dinosaur. You may think you know these fairy tales, but you are in for a fun surprise to see how they play out. The Palmdale Playhouse is a true treasure for all who call Acton home and live in surrounding areas. The calendar of shows and events is jam packed. Spend a day away from your Acton home appreciating art at the Museum of Art and History (MOAH) in Lancaster. Human Natures is on display. These are highlights from MOAH’s permanent collection. The dates for this show are May 14th through August 21, 2022. This show celebrates the culmination of a decade of work acquiring artwork for the museum’s permanent collection. Locals are lucky to have this facility and be able to appreciate these works of art. While viewing Human Natures, everyone can appreciate the diversity of the Antelope Valley in both identities and perspectives. Various works explore the connection between humanity and the natural world. Humans need to both connect to the natural world and differentiate themselves from it. Those who travel from their Acton home can expect to see various mediums. These include painting, assemblage, photography, and sculpture. In addition to the regular collection, pieces from the annual juried show will be on display. This show is an effort to acquire works from local artists. Many artists are represented in Human Natures. Just a few include Alex Anderson, Justin Bower, Ann Diener, Jay Harris, Suda House, Michael Jones, Alvaro Naddeo, Melissa Reischman, Roni Stretch, Linda Vallejo, and Cathy Weiss. Many others are represented and each one has an imprint to leave on the art world. The Museum of Art and History is located at 665 W. Lancaster Blvd. in Lancaster, CA. There are many ways for those living in West Palmdale to celebrate Independence Day. The community calendar has several events to choose from. On Monday, July 4th, bring your kids to Domenic Massari Park or Marie Kerr Park. There will be field day fun at both parks as well as free 4th of July giveaways while supplies last. Staff will be at the park to offer games and equipment to engage kids in fun and memorable play. Come to the park closest to your West Palmdale home between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. to take part in the festivities. Domenic Massari Park is located at 37716 55th St. and Marie Kerr Park is located at 39700 30th St. West. If you are interested in purchasing your own fireworks, you can visit the fireworks stand. This is located in the Walmart Supercenter Parking lot at 40130 10th St. West in Palmdale. The stand is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. June 27th through July 4th. The Antelope Valley Chamber of Commerce will have an assortment of colorful fireworks to choose from. Light up the sky yourself, just be sure to be safe. Unfortunately, the usual fireworks display at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds has been canceled this year. This is due to the event’s vendor being found engaging in alleged illegal activity. This incident has left several cities without their normal fireworks display. This can be disappointing for many families living in West Palmdale, but families can still make great memories together over this holiday weekend. Hopefully the event will be back next year. Everyone living in Lancaster real estate is invited to soak up the last days of summer at Music in the Parks. These concerts are free and open to all. Come for the music, and also find food trucks and free activities for the kids. Local bands and new artists will be taking care of the entertainment, allowing you to sit back, relax, and enjoy a beautiful summer evening. Bring a blanket or lawn chair from your Lancaster real estate to sit on. Bring your own food or purchase dinner from the food truck. There is a free concert each Thursday starting at 5:30 p.m. Some concerts take place at Poncitlan Square on some evenings, and Domenic Massari Park on others. Here is the schedule for Poncitlan Square, which is located at 38315 9th St. East in Palmdale. July 7th, come to see The Dance Band, on July 21st, Rayford Bros. Band will perform, on August 4th, experience Seventh Switch, and on August 18th, come out for Runaway Band. Domenic Massari Park is located at 37716 55th St. East in Palmdale. Here is the schedule for this location. July 14th features Ric James and The N’Rhythm Band, July 28th features Pop Vision, August 11th features Ontap Band, and August 25th features Midnite Crisis. Occasionally, it’s fun to head into LA to experience some of the events and attractions the city has to offer. Fashion and Glamor is coming to LA during LA Fashion Week. As LA is one of the most important cultural cities in the world, it supports a large community of artists and designers. This event brings them to the world stage and allows those who live in the area to experience the glamor of LA. LA Fashion Week will take place from March 31st through April 3rd, 2022. Mark your calendars now and make arrangements to get from your Acton home to LA for this event if you want to experience the latest in fashion. The event kicks off with a red carpet event on March 31st at 6 p.m. After the red carpet event, there will be live entertainment and then designer showcases. Red carpet fashion continues on April 1st with designer showcases from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. On April 2nd, contemporary fashion will be featured in designer showcases from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Last, on April 3rd, streetwear will be featured in designer showcases from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Everyone living in Acton is invited to come experience the glamor of LA Fashion Week. This organization produces two state of the art fashion experiences each year. It’s meant to showcase the newest collection of both LA-based and international designers. Many designers work with LA Fashion Week. Just a few of these designers include Fabiana Milazzo, Bishme Cromartie, Renim Project, Escada, and 404 Studio by Anais Vauxcelles. He was a civil rights activist and co-founded the National Farm Workers Association. Chavez fought for farmworkers and was an ardent advocate of nonviolence. Come experience this first annual event to celebrate this influential leader. There will be food, music, vendors, entertainment, a soccer tournament, and car show. It will all take place on March 26th, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m at Yellen Park. Mark your calendar now so you don’t miss it. The live music will come in the form of live music and a DJ. The car show will feature hot rods, lowriders, bikes, and more. There will be non-profit organizations, commercial vendors, and food vendors at the event. Stop to learn more about local non-profit organizations. AV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, SALVA Organization, Palmdale Sheriff’s Booster, Inner Circle Foster Family Inc., Enos Endeavors, and Dolores Huerta Foundation will all be represented. Commercial vendors include Paparazzi, Lucky Pet Treats, Snow Orthodontics, Alicia’s Custom Designs, Phoenix Creations, Face Painting by Liz, and more. Find some great items for gifts, yourself, or your Palmdale West home. Also, come hungry because there will be a long list of food vendors at the event. These include Heart Attack Bar Be Que, Mi Ranchito, Tacos Mary, Sophia Kitchen, Birria Truck, Cheesesteaks, Dulce Europa, and more. Parking is available on the streets surrounding the park. Do some shopping for your West Lancaster home and yourself at Sol Plaza Boutique Mall. This is Lancaster’s only indoor shopping center and is located at 1140 Commerce Center Drive. There are a variety of unique shops as well as service industries, restaurants, and options for entertainment. There are clothing stores, health and beauty shops, jewelry stores, and specialty shops. In addition, Sol Plaza hosts many events throughout the year. Keep an eye on the calendar to see what’s coming up. There are two events coming up in February and March, 2022. On Saturday, February 20th, come out to Sol Plaza for a Black History Month event. There will be Black-inspired art by local artists, shopping, food, and jazz compositions. Anyone living in a West Lancaster home, or nearby, who has pieces they would like to display and/or sell is welcome to do so for no charge. When you come to do some shopping, you can take a chance at winning a pot of gold filled with gold wrapped chocolate coins, lottery tickets, and plaza bucks.
